“Perceive”
By David Jadlocki
In me there is a possibility
As bright as the day is long.
A hope, a wish, a wondering,
A promise that I belong.
But my eyes they do not see it.
Shackled by my un-faithing
Captured by my un-wanting
Enslaved by my self-loathing
My heart grows weary…
My hands heavy…
My doubt strong…
Through this world I wander
In my pack I carry
Each heavier than the next
My back shudders under their weight
My shoulders ache with their strain
My body crippled and snarled by the oppression of
The things I carry and do not see….
It is not me that needs to be freed
Not me…certainly not me.
It is the other
But softly it descends…
Lighting upon me with its breath of life…
Below the surface
Under the conscious
Past the certain
It finds its home….
A truth more majestic than the mighty mountains of New Hampshire
Stronger than the wildest winds of the sea
Fiercer than the mighty hurricane that blows and rearranges the world before it
Hushed….petals unfolding…
Life opened and exposed…
And I perceive…
It is me…
It is me….that needs to be freed….
It is me….
It is me….that God has come to see….
It is me…
Truth….And Power….And Promise….
God….came….for….me….
Perceive
